Our Tree Planting Services

Step 1: Selecting the Right Tree

The first step in our tree planting service is to guide you in tree selection. It’s very important to pick the right tree for the right place. This will make the planting a success. If you have a shady location, pick a tree that thrives in full shade. Or if the site is windy, choose a tough plant with thick leaves that won’t dry out, not a delicate Japanese maple.

Frontier’s experts can help you make the right choice based on your taste and the needs of the space. For example, you might be looking for an evergreen screening tree to give you privacy in your yard. We would recommend some conifers or broadleaf evergreens for you to select from, such as Cupressus ‘Donard Gold’ (Golden Monterey Cypress) or Arbutus unedo (Strawberry Tree).

Perhaps you want to select a tree to replace a Redbud that died from Verticillium Wilt. We would recommend species that are disease-resistant, instead of replacing it with another susceptible species.

Step 2: Site Inspection

As part of our tree planting services, Frontier Tree thoroughly inspects the site and surveys for possible evidence of disease and pests. This is especially important if you are planning to replace a tree that has died. Often it’s better to replace a dead tree with a completely different species to ensure your new specimen thrives.

Step 3: Site Preparation and Planting

When planting, we take care to select the healthiest tree for you. We inspect specimens at the nursery to avoid root and crown issues. Also, we examine them for good branching structure.

As the next step in our tree planing service, we prepare the site carefully. We start by digging amendment into the area around where the tree will be planted. This ensures that the tree roots are encouraged to move out into the soil. This prevents the roots from staying in the amended planting hole where it’s easy for them to grow. This will establish a strong, supportive root system which will stabilize and feed the plant.

Frontier Tree Service will also add stakes to protect and support a young tree while it grows and builds up strength and girth. This can help trees grow straight despite strong prevailing winds.

Step 4: Tree Maintenance

Frontier will guide you with advice on maintaining your tree. Then we follow up by scheduling maintenance pruning. Regular pruning on young, growing trees can help them develop good structure. Regular maintenance will allow us to monitor your trees for any problems. In the long run, this will save you money by not having to pay for corrective pruning in the future.

With Frontier’s four decades of expertise to guide you, newly planted trees will provide cool and leafy privacy screens along with lasting beauty and a welcoming habitat for wildlife.
