Tree Health Care: Diagnosing Tree Problems
As tree specialists and certified arborists, our job is to thoroughly evaluate and accurately diagnose your trees. We act like detectives looking for clues to inform us of the source of your tree’s poor health. We can then take action changing cultural conditions to mitigate the source of the problems.
The Benefits of Regular Tree Health Care
- A regular maintenance program helps to ensure healthy trees and landscapes.
- If your trees are in good health, they will add to the overall beauty of your yard.
- Well maintained trees add to your overall property value.
- Keeping trees healthy prevents the spread of pests and diseases to other plants in your garden.
Changing Cultural Conditions
Often tree health can be compromised by a poor start. If a tree is planted too low, water can collect around the root flare of the tree and encourage decay. For plants to thrive, the cultural conditions need to match the needs of their species.
If a sun-loving tree is planted in the shade, then the tree will not prosper. It could develop mildew on the leaves and fail to flower. If not too old, this tree could be moved to a sunnier location.
If a tree that loves good drainage is planted in heavy clay soil, their roots are at risk of developing root diseases. Seasonally digging in compost will alleviate compacted soil and improve drainage. This allows more air to be taken up by the tree roots. Now, the roots will grow further and stabilize the tree.
As part of our tree health care services, Frontier Tree will address and adjust these and other cultural problems. Sometimes simply thinning out a tree canopy that is overgrown will let in more light and allow air circulation, invigorating the tree.
Using Biological & Chemical Intervention
If changing cultural conditions isn’t enough to restore the tree to health, there are also effective organic and biological controls that can be used for a safer environment. We will also use select chemicals when needed to help the tree combat diseases. For example, using Copper Fungicide to treat mildews or using a soil drench to save a tree from bronze birch borer. Tell us about any tree health concerns you may have. Together we can develop the right solution to promote health and growth performance for years to come.
